PANOS – palcos novos palavras novas is a Culturgest project that links school and youth theatre with new writing, inspired by the National Theatre Connections programme. Every year new plays are commissioned to be performed by the teenage actors of the dozens of groups from all over the country signing up to participate in the project.

Writers such as Jacinto Lucas Pires, Armando Silva Carvalho, Patrícia Portela, Tiago Rodrigues, André e. Teodósio, Rui Cardoso Martins, Alex Cassal, Lola Arias and Gonçalo M. Tavares have already written for PANOS. And plays by Mark Ravenhill, Ali Smith, Letizia Russo, Dennis Kelly, Abi Morgan and Katori Hall, among others, have been translated.

Tim Etchells will be one of the three authors writing for the tenth edition of PANOS, in a co-commission with Connections. The script will be developed over 2014 and explored with the youth group directors in workshops facilitated by Tim Etchells himself, both in London and in Lisbon. In May 2015, a festival at Culturgest will present two productions of each play; a book with the three scripts will also be published.
